My responsibilities in this role included evaluation, treatment planning, surgical intervention and post-operative care of a wide variety of Gastro Intestinal and Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary surgery patients besides. Our unit has recently crossed over Thousand and one hundred liver transplants recently & currently, we have one of the largest series of Robotic living donor hepatectomies in the world (over 350); hence have gained considerable experience in the same. Our centre has completed four small bowel transplants, and I was actively involved in the perioperative and intraoperative management of the last one. Our Unit has completed over 15 Simultaneous pancreas and kidney transplants, and I played an active role in the last two cases. Ours is a high-volume transplant unit performing around a hundred Living donor liver transplants a year under the leadership of Dr Sudhindran, who previously served as the president of the Liver transplant society of India. I was involved in the pre-operative evaluation of these patients with chronic and acute liver disease and presented their transplant meets, played a role during surgery, and was part of their post-operative care. In addition, our centre also performs other robotic procedures like Low anterior resection, abdominoperineal resections, gastrectomies, and Whipple's procedure.
Our unit also performs various open surgical procedures, including procedures for Chronic Pancreatitis, in addition to the more common procedures for pancreatic neoplasms like Pancreaticoduodenectomy. Hepatobiliary procedures include surgeries for Gallstone disease, biliary drainage procedures, and choledochal cyst resections. Hepatic resections in normal and cirrhotic livers are carried out regularly for Hepatocellular carcinoma and Hilar Cholangiocarcinoma. We also perform various advanced laparoscopic procedures like Gastrectomies, bariatric procedures, hemicolectomies, low anterior resection, and Abdominoperineal resection. The vascular surgery procedures in the unit include vascular access procedures(arteriovenous fistula creation), peripheral bypasses and Aortic aneurysm repairs.

My responsibilities in this role included evaluation, treatment planning, surgical intervention and post-operative care of a wide variety of general surgical cases, predominantly our cases included pathologies involving GI tract; our unit performed various open procedures like Low anterior resection, abdominoperineal resections, Gastrectomies, and Whipple's procedure. The unit is used to perform basic laparoscopic procedures like cholecystectomy and inguinal hernia repair. Other non-GI-related procedures like Modified radical mastectomy for breast, sarcoma excision, and thyroidectomies were regularly performed.
